Dear SOLs in England. Can anyone help me to source a water pump from the
Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club (ASOC) in England.
Here in Australia my Father is restoring a 1936 17HP Armstrong Siddeley
Sports Saloon. The water pump from this car is badly corroded, so in 1986
armed with measurements and photos of the device I travelled to England on
business with the hope of finding one while in the UK.
To my amazement the ASOC had reproduction waterpumps of this very type on
display at their annual show and I was told, "No you can't buy this one
it's our display model for the day, but you can mail order one from this
address..." Unfortunately I could not contact the person at the address and
subseqently heard that the spare parts representative in the club had changed
at about this time.
Upon my return to Australia my father tried to source the pump through the
Australian club, but to no avail. It seems there was some difficulty somewhere
in the chain. He let the matter slide until now when he is ready to install
the motor into the restored chassis and needs the pump urgently.
Would anyone be prepared to put me touch directly with the spare parts
operation of the Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club in England? Can you see if
the water pumps are still available (I know we should never have let it go
so long)? Does anyone have any contacts in the ASOC club that would be willing
to help. I can supply a detailed description, measurements and even photos
if they are needed.
Many thanks to anyone willing to help. In true SOL tradition I'll buy you
a beer if you ever come to these parts!
Cheers,
Paul.
