Hi all,
Back form DC....what a great city...what a sucky speed limit on the highways
on the east coast - more later.
I was reading the local add-rag and came across an advert for brit car parts for
sale. I called, and its a brit parts garage/mech./shop which is moving to
smaller location (in Peoria for IL people). The guy said he has a ton
of TR and MG stuff (not many other marques) which he needs to get rid off.
I will make a trip up there this weekend in search of 'bits' and see what the
prices are like and report back...may be sme good bargains if any of you need
some things.

Ooooops...
80mph on certain sections of I-95 is quite acceptable I thought...dry and clear,
not much traffic. I passed a few cops and they didn't seem to care...but you
know when you get that niggly feeling that their talking about you? In fact
the patrol men seemed to be trying to set a number of cops per mile of
highway record, much like seeing how many boy scouts you can cram into
a mini, anyway I digress. A few miles down the road, Ive got the cruise set
at 65mph, and I get pulled over (a celica was passing me at the time obviously
going ~70mph!). He asks for my license and tells me I was doing 69 in a 55.
I reach for my wallet, for my Illinois licence, then think...hang on...time
to play the dumb englishman abroad. I pull out my filofax thingy where my
english licence is, pull it out and ceremonously unfold it to its full
15"*12" size (WHY is it still so big?). I tell him in my best chinless english
accent that I'm going to National DC to fly back to blighty after a short trip
to see friends in Philly. I'd like to think that he didn't ticket me because
he knew I wouldn't pay and/or wasn't used to US roads...I'm sure if he'd
seen the IL license I would be paying $75 because the SOB would know I wouldn't
come back to the east coat to defend it. Or maybe he was in a charitable mood???

Tooze.
P.S. I have nothing against cops, tough job etc etc (sometimes you know, they
just don't put enough filling in the dunkin' donuts 'bavarian cream').
