There was a large range made by J. A. Pearce in the sixties, including Mini
sizes,
could these be the ones? I think you could get them in aluminium or magnesium,
do you want me to find an advert for them from a '60s _Autosport_ to get some
more detail?

The mascot is a stork. Their designer was Swiss (Marc Birkit?), but based in
Spain - as someone said.

The only reason Alfa weren't state sponsored too was that they were state
_owned_ by then!

Carb icing? Another possibility is choked air filters - when you take the
cans off the carbs take a peek inside to see what they're like. I suffered
bad running in an A-H Sprite over three months, two distributor rebuilds,
three carb strip-downs, and even a check that the camshaft had its proper
lumps before taking a look at the filters :-(
A question for you all - What is a "British" car?
De Lorean made it into Gerry's list and are advertis^Hzed in this mailing list,
Modern Fords are made in Belgium & Germany are they still British?
Rover are owned by BMW and use lots of Honda parts - are they British?
Even my Lotus, made in Norfolk by Norfolk farm hands, has some Toyota parts
- and of course, Bugatti now own Lotus - does this make a difference?
Cheers,
Mike
