Recent discussion about Triumph PI system reminded me of a Spitfire that
was featured in several classic car magazines in Britain several years
ago. It was based on a MkIII (memory failing) and the owner had fitted a
modified Lucas PI system converted to suit the four cylinders (honest!).
I think he had some Lucas connections (no pun intended). The throttle
bodies, injectors and everything else were the same as the TR6 PI
parts. Saw it at a couple of shows and it was a regular prize winner.
The PI system makes the TR6 a great car though. I used to spend a lot of
time in the Spit following my brothers 72 TR6 PI back in the UK. Sounded great
when it fired on all six but in the early days there were many roadside
breaks to blow out blocked injectors.
"TR6: A simple machine, there can't be much left to fall off?"
