On mine I think I put the thin non moving window outside the channel, between
the channel and the frame, tward the outside of the car.

I have lots of info and manuals as well as experiance with the Triumph
1800R. I have one at the moment. Though I can't email the info to you, 
I would be happy to answer any questions I can on the telephone.

PS he should join THE ROADSTER CLUB. they are an excellent source of 
information for the 1800 and 2000 roadsters, as well as parts new or used.
