I don't know about POR-15, but Practical Classics (if I remember
correctly) has been running a series of tests on rust inhibiters/primers.
I've seen at least 2 updates, the most recent 2 or maybe 3 months ago.
Very interesting... They take a series of identical metal plates,
and then prime part of them, and paint part of the primed surface. After
applying the inhibiter, they scratch through to metal (to test it's healing
properties).
These plates are left exposed to the elements, and occasionally
sprayed with a salt solution as well.
The differences in protection are _dramatic_. Something (if I
remember right) call Nitol did far better than most others. Some seemed to
be almost no help at all. I think some Eastwood product did ok.
