Kirby,
I have seen a few racers use this fix. It is a good one. It does give you
a lot more thread area, and axial stresses on the stud are reduced due to
the increased cross sectional area.
However, most race cars use mag or aluminum wheels, which don't rely on a
machined bevel for centering the wheel and transferring stress. If your
car has steel wheels, this fix may cause more problems than it solves.
Make sure that the lug nut you have chosen matches, in size and pitch, the
machined bevel surrounding each of the stud holes on the wheel. If you
have a decreased contact patch here, the wheel will experience increased
localized stress, and GT-6's definitely do not need any part of their
drivetrain to be compromised structurally.
