The setup on my 1980 MGB (recently converted to dual SUs ) sounds similar to
yours
so it may be of some help. The overflow line from the carbs to the charcoal
canister has a section of steel tubing about a foot long where it crosses
over the engine. This tubing has a tab with a hole in it where it the rear
valve cover bolt runs through it, holding it in place on top of the valve
cover.

The port which comes out of the bottom of the charcoal canister on my car is
connected to a large diameter hose which goes to the anti-run on valve. Two
other hoses are connected to this valve, a small diameter hose running over
to the intake manifold and a large diameter hose running down to the ground.

Both the Victoria British and Moss MGB catalogs have some drawings of the
fuel system and emission controls. I have not seen the Midget catalog so I
do not know if the information there is as complete. I found the drawings in
the catalogs very useful when I was converting from a single Zenith to dual
SUs.
