TR3 progress

This last Saturday, I installed the dash board minus the center insturment
panel, the upper steering column, the various under dash support brackets and
the heater assembly. However, I have run across two problems I need help with..

so HELP! Pleeaaase

1. Bushes for the wiper motor.

My wiper motor is in very good condition except one of the brushes is history.
Moss and the Roadster Factory have a brush set listed as NLA!!!!. Does anyone
have a source for brushes for the Lucas wiper motor? The basic motor was in the
TR3 & 4 & who knows how many other LBCs. It seems if your brushes wear out the
whole wiper system is just there for show (some may argue it is anyway).

2. upper steering column mounts

TS75519 has a split steering column. There is a mount directly behind the
instrument panel that consists of a bracket fixed to the bulkhead by 3 studs,
and to the same studs as the demister with a 'U' shaped rod. There is a
threaded rod that goes to one of the lower instrument mounting brackets that is
part of the front mount assembly.

OK, there is another seperate mounting bracket that is a 'Y' shaped pice of
sheet metal and 2 clamps. It goes behind the instrument panel, with the 'Y' end
secured to the steering column and the two sloted bolt holes at the base end of
the 'Y' attached to ?????????

Could someone with a late 3A please check for me?

FUN FACTS:
The bracket mounting flanges on the back of The Roadster Factory's battery box
replacement are not properly located horizontally nor are the two mounting holes
on each bracket far enough appart.

The holes on the mounting brackets need to be spaced farther appart than the
bracket is wide for the holes to line up with the holes on the lower instrument
panel mounting brackets (pieces that run between the lower instrument panel and
the battery box that the heater mounting bracket mounts to). Things fit fine if
you use 2 screws at the instrurment panel side and one screw at the battery
bracket AND you do not have a heater. If you have a heater, the adaptor for the
demister interferes with the bracket because the spacing between brackets is too
close. Cut a notch out of one of the brackets for demister adaptor clearance
and everything works fine.

I think the Roadster Factory cheated a little in bracket size and location
because if the brackets were as wide and where I think they should be, there is
no way you could put the replacement batery box into position with the brackets
welded on. This is something I will varify when I get near a TR3 with my
measuring stuff.

Tanks to womever is giving my questions an answer.
