My tuppence on tyre repairs:
I dislike repairing tyres with plugs. Often the tyre is damaged more by the
plugging tool than the object causing the flat. Any flats which come to me
for repair get a patch on the inside of the tyre. OK, it takes longer but a
patch never leaks and some plugs do. Besides, there's something "foreign"
about plugs in tyres. I can't explain it any better than that; perhaps others
of you understand.
And on copper brake lines:
I agree with Bob Bownes. Copper is a no-no. Not a good place to get cheap
or lazy! Those with a propensity for sore thumbs can buy a bending tool from
Harbor Freight for $6. MGA owners can buy packaged steel brake lines from
Moss: correct length and fittings for each location. About $3-5. each. Just
bend and install them. I clean them with steel wool and clear them before
installing. Moss probably sells them for MGB's and other lbc's, too.
