First, try topping up the oil level. Sounds like you may be losing
hydraulic pressure as the gearbox oil heats; additional oil may help.
Clogged screen may also cause this. Trouble is, what's clogged the
screen? If the 'box is otherwise working well, it's probably not metal,
and it may be overdrive clutch material. If that's the case, you need to
rebuild.
(I don't know what you meant when you said "freewheel", as in:
After about 5 minutes or so of driving,
the car freewheels when letting off the gas when not in OD,
could you explain?)
