Just a shameless plug here: A couple of weeks before Xmas, I had the
differential of my TR6 let go (in the parking lot of a store, after buying
_presents_ fercryinoutloud) and take the trans with it. It was the very
first time one of my LBCs has left me stranded - and I've been using them
daily for 8 years. A medium-expensive tow home ( I knew I had towing
insurance for something!). and then the post-mortem The gearbox had a
loud tick-tick-tick in neutral, and the car felt like it had a dislocated
hip when I rolled it into the garage. Lots of pinion gear bits in the
diff, and I couldn't bear to look in the trans. After much agonizing and
mucking about with options, I finally plunked for rebuilt units from
British Parts, in Dayton Oregon. Exceptionally friendly, helpful phone-
guy, very good prices, and marvelous service. I had the parts the very
next day UPS ground (I live outside of Seattle - so it's not really
very far). A long weekends worth of work, and I was back on the road in
time for more shopping! (BTW, an air-ratchet is a life saver on this job -
I can R&R the trans in under 5 hours from start to finish, including all
the interior bits). So there you have it, a shameless, heartfelt
well-earned endorsement.
Happy new year to all, and keep 'em on the road!

I guess some people use excuses like:
-I don't have room for another car (that's what you get for living in a
city... Actually, I have sorta the same excuse, but for good reason, and
it doesn't stop me!)
-It will only fit 2 (Bad excuse- you only need room for 1 or 2 a lot of the
time. You can also get *2* LBC's for less than a new car!)
-I can't afford it. (LBC's are actually often quite cheap. It's probably
paid for, and won't bring in much on sale.)
-I don't have the time (Then you never did)
-s/he doesn't like it (no comment needed!)
Our kids *love* our LBC's! We all get to ride in them at some point.
Currently, I'd like to pick up a nice British Saloon (Magnette, Riley,
etc), or bettter yet, (well, some better, some not), Tilly is working on
finding out more about a Morris Minor *convertible* she heard about. It
fills most of the criteria- Little, British, Convertible, A-series engine,
It seats 4 and the top goes down!
