Well, I'm starting to think of replacing the muffler on TINTIN after
only fourteen years, whether it needs it or not! The Monza two-pipe
has held up well, but its weight caused the rear mount to 1) break off
of the muffler (Fixed with some angle iron) and 2) break off the car
(Fixed by the body shop). Plus, in the one time I've had to have it
towed (If I'd looked a little closer, a little of my girlfriend's
nail polish on that little crack along the rotor would have avoided
that!) the pipes interfered with the sling, and we had to get a flatbed...
But to get back to the subject, I'd like to get a stainless system,
and Moss offers two: A more standard system with resonator and muffler,
and another large-tubed muffler-only. The advert. claims that the latter
breathes better. Anyone have any experience with these, especially in
terms of ease of installation, exhaust note, power, clearances, etc.?
The Monza required much sworking since the pieces furnished didn't
reach and I had to cut a length off of the old system to make up the
difference... I'd prefer to avoid unnecessary swork.
On another note, leaving the parking lot at lunch, across the
intersection was a very nice BRG bugeye. As the light changed and
I drove past the Bugeye in BRG TINTIN, I waved. The guy gave me
the look of "Huh? Do I KNOW you?" He had no doubt borrowed the car.
No one owning a bugeye THAT nice can be THAT obtuse!
