Hi,
excuse the neophytic tone -- I'm only just getting up to speed on this list
and the topic in general. I'd like to buy a Spitfire 1500, and I have some
general and specific questions about the game. I've read a few issues of
"British Car" magazine, talked with a couple of "wise" people, and read
through a couple of Spitfire Books (like the Spitfire Gold Protfolio). What
other information sources should I consult?
About the cars: where are the known trouble spots? Are there any make/break
checks? (Note that I'm willing to do "medium" skilled/time level work on this
car - I'm certainly not a proficient mechanic (though I'm willing to try
anything), but I do have my weekends free :-).
I've tracked down a couple of cars in San Francisco (which is where I live).
Where is a good place to take the car to get it checked out? I know about
Triumphs Only in San Jose, but that seems a bit far. Niether of the cars have
the overdrive option. How bad is that, and how tough is it to add (or find the
part). Both cars have had the engine and transmission rebuilt. How can I check
the quality of the rebuild?

Thanks for any and all help. Also -- please CC:me on a response -- I only read
the british-cars digest.

Thanks again,
-- David
