Well, it appears that I need to make some room in the garage for the
winter, so we can once again fit the family van inside, out of the cold
& rain. So, I'm afraid the black '62 TR4 parts car (commission # CT
15099L) has to go. If I advertise it in Hemmings, I'll probably ask
$1,200.00, but for you, $1,000.00 or make me an offer. Transport within
1000 miles of Seattle can probably be negotiated. Details:
It's mostly complete, but the body is totally disassembled. A
restoration would take quite a bit of work, as there are quite a few
fiddly little bits that the PO (disassembler) didn't give me when I
bought it, like lamps, fasteners, etc. However it is a wonderful parts
car. Especially noteworthy is the frame - it is completely solid and
original, no rust whatsoever. The PO sandblasted and undercoated it as
the beginning (and early demise) of a ground-up restoration.
The body isn't quite so good. The floor has rusted through in places,
as have the rocker panels. There are new steel rocker panels that could
be welded in. The front wings have some rust at the bottom, but the
rest of the body pieces are quite good. The interior is totally out of
the car, and the wiring's a mess. The seats are trashed, but
rebuildable.
The suspension is complete, but needs to be rebuilt. It has disk
wheels, most of them with cracks, and rags for tyres, but they hold air.
There are a couple of good 7" wide wheels, but no rubber.
The engine's out of a later TR4, possibly a '65, and was running this
summer in my white TR4. It runs fine, but has unknown mileage.
Compression is 145-150 lbs. in all cylinders. The transmission works,
but needs a new front mainshaft bearing.
Let's see, there's a bunch of extra stuff; fuel pump, tach, speedo,
water pump, exhaust manifold, an extra set of SU HS6 carburettors and
manifold, a pair of seats out of an early MGB (!), and a bunch of other
stuff I've forgotten.
Oh yes, and I have the title. I'd like to sell it all together, but
will consider specific needs.
Let me know what you think.
