The best method I have found for removing bondo is to grind as much off
as possible, then to use paint stripper to get what's left.
Always a fun job. One thing to keep in mind is that until recently
some brands of "bondo" were up to 50% asbestos filler. Grind with
care.
Another way that often works is to heat the metal (propane-torch
levels), whereupon the differing coefficients of expansion of metal
and bondo will cause the stuff to more or less pop off. There is of
course the possibility of warping the panel as a side effect.
