There are at least two versions of the original Lucas tripod headlights, the
esteemed PL700 and the 700. The center of the tripod would say PL700, or not.
Neither were sealed beams; they had replaceable bulbs. I'd be suspicious of
any lamps which do not have "Lucas" on the lens somewhere - they're probably
reproductions. Not to say that reproductions are bad - just worth less than
Lucas originals.
I have a set of brand new, still-in-the-box tripod 700's which have the MG
octagonal logo etched into the lens; they're really unique and handsome. Dunno
if Lucas made them or someone had them etched...? The problem: they seem to be
intended for left-side driving. For an old British show car which doesn't get
driven after dark, they would be a beautiful addition. Is anyone interested?
Lemme know....
