I'm kind of confused about the Z-S CD150s in my GT6. I don't have the
book on the Stromberg carbs, so I tried to follow the directions in
the Haynes GT6 manual. It was talking about how the screw thing on the
bottom of the carb raises and lowers the needle valve seat. It doesn't
seem to do anything to mine.
My car is running REAL rich, and it idles way too fast. It runs well,
however. When I looked at the brass seat in the throat of the carb, it's
about 1/4 inch below the surface of the carb throat. On the TR250, which
idles fine, it's only about 1/16 below the carb throat. I assume this
may be a problem. The manual said to bring the seat up until it touches
the piston, then back it off 3 turns. So far, I can't see any way to
bring it up all the way.
Am I doing something wrong? These carbs have the slotted round fitting
on the bottom. I need help, since this is hurting my mileage and performance.
Thanks,
Larry
