I was overly optimistic about the progress I was going to make on the GT6+
this past weekend. I did manage to get the seats out, and the interior is now
empty. I ended up removing the bolts that the seat pivots on first. This was
not easy, because of their position, but with a u-joint and a long extension
on the ratchet it wasn't too bad. Then I could manhandle the sliding frame and
get it out. I am going to assemble the seat back onto the sliding rack before
reinstalling it in the car. I'll have it cleaned up and lubed up enough then
to be able to push it back and forth easily.
Now I have to remove the shoulder harnesses, which have a nut turning on the
underside of the car, up in the recessed area of the body where the spring
goes. Then it's a matter of plugging up all the holes and putting down
insulation and carpet. I hope to have it done before this weekend, which I can
then spend finishing up.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a sealant for gluing/sealing the
transmission cover to the body? I want to make sure there are no leaks here.
Someone said that silicone sealer has acid in it? Help?
Tonight I'm going to find out how well Simple Green degreases....
