Last night I attended my first meeting of the Triumph Sports Car Club
of San Diego, California, or TSCCSDC, for short...

About 40 folks, about 20 cars, met at a local Boll Weevil (great
hamburger joint). Item of key interest is the local "British Car
Daze" show coming up 3 Oct; AND, this club is hosting the '94
Triumphest on the West coast.

I really enjoyed the easy going laid-back (Hey, this is southern
california) meeting; felt warmly greeted, a had a good time.
Plus! I won a bottle of wine AND a bottle of Westley's leather and
vinyl cleaner in the raffle. There also was a guy there, who also
became a new member last night, who has volunteered to do a technical
session on detailing cars. That is his occupation--car detailer.
Well, he asked for a volunteer car to work on; yes, I volunteered.
I was somewhat amazed that no one else did volunteer. Do they know
something that I don't know? In any case, he is going to spend two
(2), not one, but TWO Saturdays detailing my car! For FREE! There
were several jokes made about how he would do half the car for free prior
to the technical session, then if I wanted the car finished, he was
going to charge me double for the other half... Ha, ha. The guy is
obviously trying to get some business going for him with the club;
but it sure seemed like a generous offer. Timing is perfect. It will
be done right before the brit car daze; I will be "showing" and will
be assisting with registration. Yes, I am one of those who volunteers
when I get involved. It is more fun that way!

Also, a member, who runs a brit car repair shop, turns out he has some
of the little parts that are missing from Tilley, my tr6; so I am
scoring on some "little parts"...

Hey, if you are not in a local club, you might check it out... It is
turning out to be fun for me.
(Nobody broke down on the way over, and everybody started up after the
meeting.) Normal assortment--4's, 6's, 7's, spits, 1 3, and a '49
2000. It did seem most people had more than one lbc, though only one at
the meeting. One fanatic, with the 2000, also has 2 or 3 3's, an MG,
and 2 Mercedes Benzes--his wife is very nice and accommodating...
