Fellow net-oids,
We've finally done it. After several years of waffling and indecision,
we bought a Jaguar. That makes the stable all-british (at least after
the Jetta gets sold off): TR6, TR8 and XJ6. Certain friends are sure
that we're nuts...
To expand on the description a bit:
'86 VDP
Cyrus (?) Green (sort of a gray-green metallic. Very pretty)
Tan interior
72,000 miles
No Rust
Excellent Chrome (no leaping cat 8^( We'll fix that later...)
Paint is very good - bonnet was re-sprayed at some point, and the
paint is bubbling a bit along the seam where
the bulge fairs in - poor prep/painting rather
than rust. Not really objectionable.
Interior is pretty good. The usual aged wood/cracking finish and
wear on the driver's seat.
Needs new rack mounting bushings.
Has a certain number of electrical anomalies - mostly non-functional
interior lights
It drives very nicely (except for the rack bushings...) and runs great. It
even comes with those magic words ' California Car '. We picked it up last
night, and the new bushing go in this weekend (hopefully). Having been
raised on 'muhrican cars, and migrated through japanese --> LIC's --> LBC's
I am amazed at the solidity of this car. Even better than the Benz's I've
ridden in. Grace, Space, Pace & MASS!
After we got it home and put in the garage (and tucked our daughter in), we
just sat in it and smiled. I suspect we're both terminal...
Colour me Happy,
John
