Greetings, one and all. I am yet another of the voyeuristic readers of this
mailing list who
now rises out of the twisted vortex of a wiring harness to ask a few small yet
important
questions.
1) Would anyone be willing to provide me with the dimensions and graduations
on the
dipstick for an AH 3000? Over the years of restoration of the '61 BT7 my
father has, we've
been puzzled by this problem of having a dipstick that seems to be from a
Sprite or
something smaller, causing no registration of any oil in the sump. None of the
major
parts houses seem to have one available.
2) Is there really a large enough difference in the needles and jets between
the sets used in
the '69 MGB and the '74 to warrant worrying? Furthermore, will these parts fit
HS4's as
opposed to HIF4's or is there some miniscule annoying difference? (FYI: I've
gone
through an engine change as I found out the hard way that the beautiful 18GH
hi-comp
engine that came with it was rebuilt poorly and the head _and_ block cracked
under the
stresses of a Weber sidedraft. I now have a '74 18V shoved in its place.)
3) Why does the '69 sound like a tractor all of a sudden. I've tightened the
exhaust
downpipe studs recently (1 month ago), but will not rule this out again
(*sigh*).
4) Would the problems in transition that occur around 2000-2700 rpm (small
sputters
when the throttle is depressed slightly) be related to #3 or is there some
other reason?
In advance, thanks for any help that you can give.
