There has been some speculation about this for some time over here, but no
recent mention of them on the net, so you might not know about this:
The Financial Times reported this week that Rover (owners of the MG name,
Brit Motor Heritage etc) has reached agreement with Mayflower, for their
subsidiary, Motor Panels to invest #24.2m in designing and developing the
body for the PR-3, a mid-engined roadster to be launched in 1995 as an MG.
This will use a 1.6l version of the very wonderful Rover K-Series engine. It
is to be priced at #15,000 and compete with the MX-5 (Miata to you). Now,
you may be interested to know that a couple of months ago design company IAD
went bust and were bought by Mayflower. IAD, I am reliably informed,
designed the Mazda MX-5, so they do know a thing or two!
