|Subj: Rebuilding brake calipers
------------------------------------------------------------------
The calipers on my midget seem to be sticking a bit lately. I'm
rebuilding some things on my MGB right now so I don't have the cash for
new calipers right now. I've had pretty good success rebuilding other
hydraulic things (clutch cylinders etc.) and was wanting to maybe try my
hand at brake caliper rebuilds. It seems like if the bores are good,
then the seals can just be replaced. What would make a caliper stick in
the first place ? The rebuild kits are pretty cheap ($6.50?).
Would I be playing with my life if I did this? I have the dual brake
circuit with the shuttle valve in case one circuit fails :-> (I sure
wouldn't want to rely on this in an emergency).
Any comments greatly appreciated.
