Hello SOLers,
I read about Gregory's 2000mile return trip in his TR7. This and others
amaze me as to how unreliable some of Brit cars on list seem to be. My
impression was that once a car had stabilised long trips were without major
problems. I would drive to the Ski fields (500km return), Sydney (700km
return), Wangaratta (900km return) or even Melbourne or Brisbane (about 2000km
return) with only minor pretrip checks (mainly fluids and tyres) in either of
my cars. I would be confident that the '79 Rover SD1 V8 or '78 Corolla hatch
would make the trip.
Is it just part of the British nostalgia that makes people fret before they
driver their cars anywhere?
