Roger, I think you've hit the nail on the head here. When I was
shopping for tires for the snake, one place asked me if I was wanted
high profile skinny "period" tires. I thought this was an absurd idea.
Why have tires on a car that might actually make it dangerous, not to
mention greatly inhibiting its performance. Mounting modern tires is
one way of making our dated cars much better performers at minimal cost.
Tires can be replace any time. I'd rather confine my efforts (and cash)
at maintaining originality to the permanent parts of my car.
