Bonjour!
The snow has finally melted up here in Montreal, and it is time to get
the car out of the garage and on to the road. I have a question to
all those who have refinished floors. I have a 67 Sunbeam Alpine.
When bought five years ago, it was partway through a complete
restoration. The body had been completely stripped, cleaned, old
paint removed and then painted. I got to put the thing back together
and now it looks and runs great.
The interior is metal+paint with a few rust specks on the floor. I
want to buy a carpet kit, and refinish a few of the interior panels.
Question: How should I prepare the metal, before installing the
carpets? Should I re-strip around the small rust spots (surface only)?
use some rust-killer (like RUSTMORT?)? repaint? use tar? Does any
padding go under the carpets? If so, is it glued down? Are the carpets
glued down as well?
Thanks in advance,
Louis
