Hi, I noticed that someones was having problems with their automatic
choke on a TR7. I have one piece of advice:
GET RID OF THE SUCKER! (the auto choke that is!)
I could never understand why American autos always have these gadgets!
I have NEVER had trouble starting any of my cars equipped with manual
chokes but not with automatics. These things tend to be too tempermental
and are constantly leaning your mixture when it needs to be rich and
enriching it when it needs to be lean.
Canadian TR7s came with manual chokes for the Z-S dual 175 carbs and it
sure makes starting the car a snap! -Being that we tend to get a fair
amount of snow in most of Canada througout the winter, the cars would
NEVER START if they had auto chokes. The choke knobs match the dash and
mount to the LH side of the steering column to some mounting holes
already there.
Find either a wrecked Canadian TR7 or order the parts new - I definitely
recommend getting a manual choke.
Thats my 2 cents worth!
Greg.
