ITEM 1:
I was recently helping a former member of Triumph Travelers to put his
TR3 together. He had had the engine work done by some trick shop in the
north part of the east-bay; a shop that works on Morgans. They had
supplied him with a very nice valve cover gasket which was made of rubber.
(The stock valve cover gasket is a made of cork and frequently is off in
size by as much a an inch depending on how old and dry it is and how dry
the air is. ) This rubber gasket was of the same thich construction as the
cork gasket and it looked like it would last forever. Unfortunatly the
person I was helping moved away without me getting the address of the
place he got it. Had anyone in brit-car-net-land got a line on these
gaskets? I'd like to get them for both tr3-4s and tr6s.

ITEM 2:
(re gt6 diff) One of the problems that you need to deal with if you change
from a gt6 diff to a non-gt6 diff is that the original rear spring is
mounted to the top of the diff. It provides both the strength and the
geometry for the whole rear suspension. The ground holds up the rear wheels
which in turn hold up the spring. The diff hangs from the spring and the
car hands from the diff. It also transmits rotational forces from the
wheels to the chassis when you brake. Before you pitch the old diff make
very sure that you understand all the forces and geometry and have a very
complete plan for replacing it. It is a MUCH more complex change then any
engine swap. If done without complete planning you will at best have a
project you can not complete. At worst you have a car which is in danger
of loosing it's rear susplension at 100 mph.
............Just some things to consider. 8^)
