More electrical problems:
I'm putting my instruments back in a '61 MGA after getting it
painted. The car has been setting in a garage for 2 years. The
turn signal no longer flashes. Also when I turn the turn signal on
the right brake light also comes on. I assume I have mis-re-wired
it. The left headlight comes on but is very dim as is the small
driving light below it. I assume I have a poor ground. The fuel pump
no longer works. Maybe the contacts are corroded. All of the other
instruments are in and seem to work, lights come on, wipers work,
horn works (after replacing a terminal). I was antsy to start engine
so I turn the engine over a few times with the crank, hopefully to lube
cylinder and then I hit the starter. The Bendix did not kick in at
first and the starter just kept hitting higher rpm. Finally the
Bendix caught and the engine turned over. Last night I removed the plugs
and squirted in WD-40 and then 30 wt oil and turned the engine over with
the crank. I'll work on the fuel pump next and hopefully with some
ether spray, I'll get it started.
