Remember the Lotus Europa S1 I advertised for Steve Carter? Bad news.
There was a fire in his shop. About 17 cars were destroyed, including the
Europa. Steve says the wheels, uprights and alloy engine pieces simply
disappeared. The crank and cam are lying under the cylinder liners and the
steel valve cover.
The cage and frame are all that is left. Steve is thinking about starting
over with a Rover V-8, which miraculously survived when the (70s) Elite it was
in burned. The uprights on the Elite disappeared, but the engine somehow did
not. Just the valve covers melted. Steve thinks it has something to do with
it being on the hoist.
Some of the customer cars that went away were a restored TR-3, a TR-6, and a
'63 E-Type
Details will have to wait until the lawyers stop fighting.
