Has anybody out there had this problem?
77MGB - Starts (fully charged battery) and runs good with no
apparent problem, but when turned off the ignition indicator
light comes on and battery proceeds to go dead. A + short
someplace.
A previous owner or someone has done some rewiring and did not
follow the color code scheme in all cases which makes trouble
shooting a little harder.
Ignition switch off - Positive on center contact (brown wire) and
(slate wire) that goes to the run on control valve contact.
Other contact on control valve goes to the run on control valve
oil pressure switch. It looks like if this switch is stuck
closed it would be a path to discharge the battery, but I can't
relate this to the ignition lamp. Is this a temperature switch
that should open when cool??
Ignition light stays on after removing the two positive leads
(both brown) from the alternator. It goes out when the Ind lead
(brown/yellow) which is one side of the lamp is removed.
I've been using an ohm meter and a test lamp. Haven't put an amp
meter in series with anything yet.
HELP - ANY CLUES BEFORE I GET INTO THE WIRING HARNESS.
