Does anyone know how this unit works? It's basically a conical rubberish
plug on the end of a bitmetallic blade that either plugs a hole or
progressively opens or closes it (varying annular area like the needle).
Questions:
Is it normally closed or open? One of mine is closed when cold, the
other not. One appears to have a different blade assembly as if one
of them was replaced. But I don't know which...
What is the range of motion from coldest to hottest?
At what temperatures? Can this be tested with a hot-water dunk or
something?
The cover is supposed to actually close the unit, right? With no
air sucking around it? Why the hell isn't there another screw at
the far end to keep it from warping? Both of mine are way warped
and don't seal the unit.
___*_____________ Cover looks like this, *'s are screws. Why
( ) isn't there a screw on the far right? That's
(_________________) where it's bent up and doesn't close. Stupid!

New covers are listed in catalogues (yea!) but not available (sigh). Whole
new units are also listed ($50 each, sigh) but also not available (cry!)...
Both plastic covers are decayed, brittle, warped, leaky and dubious. Bad
old plastic on its way out...
