British Leyland or is it the Rover Group now (I can never keep up with
the names changes - what happened to good old BMC !!!), does indeed
produce a convertible Mini. I think it is contracted out to a 3rd
party who does the conversion (much like Karmann and VW relationship).
I saw an advert in the UK when I was there last and remember seeing
a convertible being sold under the Rover name.
I know there is a cottage industry which survives by choppin the
tops of Minis. The one that comes to mind is Tickford, who made a
convertible along the same lines as the VW Cabriolet, ie with intergral
roll-bar etc. Then there is a company in Kent who does the same thing and
operates out of an old thatched mill. I am sure there are more
