|Subj: Gaskets for midget 1500 gearbox
------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday, I picked up most of the parts, from the local brit
car parts place, needed to rebuild my gearbox (Right now it's a bunch of
ears in a cardboard box, so I guess I have a different kind of gearbox.)
Anyway, the gasket said "Product of The Roadster Factory" on it and had
a part number. So, I look up the part number and it matches a gasket
set for Spitfire 1500's. I know why MG and Triumph shared the 1500
engine, I still don't understand why they didn't share the gearbox, but
why would the gasket set be the same? Is the gearbox somehow
interchangeable ? It seems odd that if the top cover, rear and front
gaskets were the same that the box itself could be that different.

P.S. - I sold my TR6 last Friday and I'm looking at Datsun Roadsters
pretty seriously.
