Storing old parts does have its charms. Sunday morning, on my
way into work, I looked down to see the temperature gauge ocupying an
unusual region of the dial. This was almost immediately followed by the
smell of ethylene glycol and a large cloud of steam.
A call home and my wife arrives with the proper hose and some
water. Five minutes after we get back to the car, we're running again.
Couldn't have done this without the parts collection.
Hot tip: I went to the fancy wine place and picked up several
wooden wine boxes. They're perfect for storing auto parts. Right size,
sturdy, and cheap ($3 ea).
Water Sports -- Part II
I come out in the afternoon, and there is a puddle of water
under the car. Inspection reveals a leak somewhere around the water
pump. I suspect that the seal got trashed when we lost all the coolant.
Is this a reasonable theory, or should I be worried about
something else?
Now I get to live with all the comments from my coworkers about
the flakey cars I drive. I need some snappy come back lines :-S.
