Pat,
I do believe that the spring was changed in the TR so that they could have
one spring fit several different Standard Triumph cars.
If memory serves me, only the newer style and the old style competition
springs are available. The competition style still uses the alumunim spacer
that the old style stock springs used. The later style does not use the
aluminum spacer since it is longer.
My TR3 had a old style with specer on one side, and a new longer style on
the other side also with spacer :^(
