Folks-
A while back, a friend of mine gave me a Curta calculator; it's one of
the "peppermill" units so famous back in rally circles back in the
sixties. I figure it will be a nice 'period' accessory if I actually end
up building a Paddy Hopkirk Replica Mini-Cooper (or maybe a "Paa Taket"
Saab 850 Monte Carlo). All I need is the car, a proper Halda Speed
Pilot, and a pile of money.
Anyway, it's truly in mint condition, but, unfortunately, he lost the
doco for it, and I can't quite figure out all the settings.
Specifically, I can't divide. Yeah, I know it's the reverse of
multiplication, but I can't find the right combination of the up/down
setting of the crank and the up/down setting of the two-position slider
that makes division work in a reasonable way. Either I'm terminally
dense (a possibility not to be discounted entirely) or I've missed some
secret control or something.
Does anyone know how to work one of these things, or, better yet, have
a Curta instruction book they can zeerocks for me?
Thanks.
