        Actually,  they are excellent places to leak since the oil is at
60 PSI.

        My MGB doesn't have aon that I know of.  The only place I've
seen thermostats recommended on oil coolers is in the part catalogues
(Hmmmm. . . Is this clue?)  Living in Salinas,  my B didn't really
seem to miss it.  Oil pressure came up reasonably under most conditions,
although I switched to 10-40 oil when cold weather arrived because it
came up to pressure faster.  

        I'd try it without first.  Davis doesn't usually get that cold
in the winter to warrant special precautions.
