I second Glen Austin's recomendation about the Nissan. About 3 years ago
I bought a used 86.5 V6 Kingcab 4X4 (I go skiing in VT). It had about 50K miles
on it and I'm pushin 100K now. Previously I had a VW Diesel pickup, and it
was a real "Jeckyl & Hyde" experience to alternate between that truck and
the Esprit. I got tired of the "I think I can" when going up hills and
the V6 has not dissappointed me. I checked out all the trucks of that vintage
and power/ergomically speaking it won hands down (Toyotas of that time did not
have a "real" King Cab). I paid $6800 for it (not into paying the $15-20K just
to be new). About the only weakness is the tranny. The syncros are hurtin.
If you don't wanna "speed shift" I can live with it (I know a few other people
who confirm that the truck tranny is a Nissan weakness). This truck is hardly
British, but me thinks I'll restrict my LBC interest to cars (IMHO the Nissan
is the way to go if you want an appliance that you just put gas into and
drive comfortably forever.... on the other hand if you find you must experience
the masochistic LBC experience in everything, it's not for you!)
