Standard Enamels (No hardener) and lacquers have a similar level of solvent 
type and saftey level. Both should be used with no less than a charcoal
canister mask. (It wouldn't hutrt for spray cans, either, but at least the
fume volume is low then)

Quite so. But- PPG has a newer, less toxic line of 2-pac modern paint
available. (read => more $$$) This was new last winter when our club
had a tech session from the PPG rep, and he didn't have all the deatails,
but everything should be available now. This was supposed to be sprayable
under the same conditions as enamel/lacquer, but have improved features
of the killer stuff. Quite possibly worth the price, for a durable, 
high quality finish.
