I would paint the engine in the colour of my namesake but I haven't
been able to find paisley in a spray paint yet! :-(

Oops. Sorry about that, I've got engine on the brain... It's a 1975
TR6. I did pick the engine up yesterday, and I don't think I've ever
seen it this clean! Amazing... To recap... This rebuild all started
when I noticed a big blue cloud that followed me everywhere I went.
So, I decided to rebuild the entire engine, rather then just have the
head work done. This turned about to be a good choice due to several
things wrong in the engine... So when you are working on your car,
remember, you could have had my engine! (I'll quote Bob Bownes with
the $$DINGS$$)
Scored crank journals ($ding$)
Out of round big ends on the connecting rods.. ($dinG$)
Slightly warped head... Out of spec by .006 ($diNG$)
Head rebuilt ($dING$)
Cylinders out of spec by .007 and required boring and new
pistons($DING$)
Cam Shaft badly pitted... ground and welded ($$DING$$)
Many New parts ($$$DING$$$)
Dang those dings add up! For those interested, my machining bill
added up to $650, which included the cam, cleaning parts, among a few
other little things not listed above. And whoever quoted me that an
engine rebuild done right would cost $1500-$2000 was right on the
money. :-( Anyway, any help on picking stock engine colours for a
1975 TR6 would help me out a lot!
Thanks...
