TVR Vixen (and some Tuscan) Parts List
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This file contains a listing of replacement parts for TVR Vixen
S1's to S3's and their source. Other models will also benefit from
this list but I've not gone to so much trouble for them. I'm thinking
of S4's, 1600M's for example. The Tuscan V6's and V8's will also
use a lot of parts in this list with the notable exceptions of
engine and drive train. The seats are also different (I think) for
Tuscans. The whole range needs parts lists done
exhaustively. I'm sure we have the facilities and people in the
club to acheive this.
The list has been compiled using the Graham Braithwaite/Colin Ward
list as a starter and then I have tried to `fill in the gaps'.
It would be nice (I think !) to make this list generally available
to club members who want it.
I'm not guaranteeing everything is right but I'm hoping it is in the
main. I would appreciate it, if, we (as a club) could fill in the gaps
as much as possible since, although most people seem to know about
suspension bits, some of the other parts, particularly trim,
are harder to source.
Obviously the major source in most cases is David Gerald TVR
Sportscars but in some cases other sources have been found. This
is true for rear screens, bumpers, body panels for example. There
are people making uprights, wishbones in the club and these may be
a good source but DG is more `off the shelf'. I've sourced a supply
of new rocker switches which is a firm called `STC' in Essex and
Gary Pritchard of Croyden can obtain rear perspex screens and bumpers
in aluminium. There are people making adjustable anti-roll bar links
and steel (cf. cast aluminium as standard) uprights but the latter
especially are very expensive (^1000 pounds a corner ) and these
parts (probably) are only neccessary as competition items.
I've not really bothered too much about engine parts since these are
easily obtained through a Ford dealer. I've mentioned the part numbers
for the bits I happen to know and I've differentiated between standard
parts and performance parts but this is a different ball-game ! In other
words the parts mentioned here are those required for a standard Vixen
as when new (whatever that means !). Sources of Kent OHV blocks seem
to be getting scarcer so it might pay to keep a spare s/h engine
(or two !) lying around for a rainy day. Gradually the engine will
get replaced from its present position of popularity. `Greening'
of engines is important and we are only allowed 6 %CO emission
for vehicles from 1962 to 1983.
A further major source of parts that appears to be emerging is the
Colin Lyons and others `Sovereign Sports Cars' operation, details
for which appear in Sprint.
Finally, I would like to thank Colin Ward for being THE `Guru'
of Vixens (amongst others), listening to my tales of woe (which have
been enumerable-perhaps I should write a book !) and helping me get
my car roadworthy. Colin has helped me fill in some more gaps during
subsequent telephone conversations (where do you think the source for
the front sidelights came from ?). For the older S1 Vixens, then Ian
Keers is a valuable expert.

there are too many different ones but it will simple be an ASCII

It should be obvious which one I'm referring to.

|Braking System|
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Essentially the TR4-6 braking system is used throughout. When replacing
discs beware of differing offsets as they may cause fouling on the
upright. Possibly Austin 1800 brakes are another source but this needs checking.
When replacing pads GT6 ones will fit but have a smaller friction material area
than proper TR4-6 ones causing a big groove to wear in the disc. Mintex M171
pads seem fine to me and stop the car very well.
