I'd think the very first of any model would be the most valuable,
with a "value-added" on the order of as much as 100% over a
regular numbered vehicle.  The farther one gets from being the first
or last of any particular model, the closer to "regular" value
you come.  I'd say for a 4th in the series, no more than about
30% over the regular price (IMHO).  Now, if the first three
cars can't be found and you can document the fact that your
#004 is now the lowest commissioned car still around, that could bump
up the value somewhat.

So where's it all end?  This is one of those non-quantifiable
elements that has alot to do with individual preferences and
how much one desires to have the first of anything.  Remember also,
the very early cars of some models often had different parts
that were changed during the production cycle so "original"
parts availability may be different than the bulk of the
particular model you happen to have one of the first of.
For example, the first few thousand TR-4s had the rack&pinion
steering unit mounted differently than later cars (That might
mean the rack itself is different).
