I think this was discussed before on the main SOL list, but I wasn't
paying attention. Anybody know anything about big Healeys? (Does
that have two 'e's, or just one?) In particular, how would a 3000
with an American V-8 do as a tow vehicle (towing small things, like
Formula cars and motorcycles)? Keep in mind that (1) I'm crazy, and
I know that I don't want to tow with something sensible like a truck
or a van, (2) I'm willing to give up some comfort and practicality
in order to have a car that's fun to drive (with or without trailer).
I think the engine was a 'Vette engine, with an automatic (yuck).
How easy would it be to fit a manual tranny later? How is the weight
balance on these cars (and what do they weigh, anyway)?
If it matters, the default if I don't decide to be silly and get the
Healey is a Mustang GT (less character, more storage space, I could
get a manual tranny, how would the fun-to-drive quotients compare?)
Oh, it's a '61. That means it's smog exampt, right? Or is that one
of the things that they're going to change? One major goal here is to
get a smog-legal car to drive ASAP so that I can take the Fiat off the
road long enough to register it.
Thanks for any info!
