Anybody in the Bay Area want to buy an MGB? (No, not one
of mine!)

I actually located two LBCs for sale. One is a Spitfire,
straight but moderately shabby; didn't look closely at it
but it has a new clutch and the owner's asking $900 for it.

The other has the potential to be a nice driver. It's
a rubber-bumper B (so 1975-1980), didn't get the year,
in the later British Racing Green which is lighter than
"true" BRG but still pleasant. I think it's got chrome
wires. Body is straight, said to run well; the shop
that just rebuilt my kingpin assembly (Anthony Fryer at
British & European) has it for sale. It belongs to
a customer who just had them do $1000 worth of work
on it and now says he can't pay. The car is now for
sale at $1750. It looks like a $3000 MGB easily, with
straight fenders, a decent interior, newish tires and
generally very good condition if you don't mind the bumpers.

If I didn't already have the E Production race car (and,
more to the point, if I still had that money), I'd make
my '71 into an autocrosser, buy this for my street car,
and put the carbs and exhaust from the '72 parts car
on it to get back some of the performance.

It looks like a really good deal for someone who wants an
MGB and doesn't object to the rubber bumpers; the later cars
are actually a little more comfortable, due to their extra
ride height and improved seats, so they make good commuters.
