My PA and Midget's starters also have the end of the armature shaft
squared off and protruding through the end of the starter, allowing
one to get a wrench on to turn it. Also handy if you've got a dead
spot...

I haven't had any stuck starter problems- sometimes my '65 goes click,
click, a couple of times before engaging.
I do know of 'B drivers who keep their mallet (or a pipe) handy for
beating on the inside wheel well just above the fuel pump. :-o
