Well this weekend was the deadline for gettin the car ready to go to
the paint shop. Saturday was spent stripping the chrome, lights and rest of
the interior out of the car. Sunday was to be the day to fix the floor.
Well Sunday turned out to be a real bear. The more rust I removed the more holes
I found. About 5:30 I decided that it was just too rotted out, got out the
panel cutter (as some of you may recall) hacked out the bad stuff and cleaned
it up.
Monday saw the fabrication and installation of about a 22" x 24"
segment of floor. Tuesday was the day to finish up the details and sweep the
garage of sharp metal bits. Yesterday at lunch (a fine sunny 60 degree day)
I followed the flatbed tow truck to the painter. More details as they arrive...
New OD and other goodies arrive early next week. Hope to have it all
back together in time for the first autox later next month. But maybe I'll bring
the Mazda just to keep Phil guessing.
On the otehr hand, I'll be essentially done with the TR-6 once the
paint is complete and she's bolted back together. Anyone got a late model
GT-6 they'd like to get rid of? Project cars only need apply....:-}
