RE: '76 XJ12 ---
A price of $6990 is not too bad. Several things to watch for:
Miles on engine (well cared for, they last 200,000 miles :-)
Do a compression test, and beware, the heads sometimes
"weld" themselves into place over time.
Tranny might be awfull, but definitely check it by driving the
car.
The rear diffs tend to go when unattended. Listen for knocks,
clunks, or whines that seem incorrect comming from the rear end.
Smog equip still working? Is the dealer willing to give you
a smog certificate (if your area needs such things)?
All gauges work? If not, why?
Check rust under the rockers and inside/underneath the wheel
wells.
If it is painted silver, the color won't last long in the sun.
How much "extra" cash do you have if everything is NOT sorted
out before you get pick up the car?
The V12 is a work of art, it could be great fun...
