My first car was a 1969 Austin America, with a 4 speed manual trans.
It had a slightly leaky hydrolastic suspension, eventually patched
(sucsessfully with RTV and electrical tape), an annoying propensity
for destroying it's NYLON U-joints and a single HS-4 carburettor.
Due in a large part to my mechanical naivete' it spent a large portion
of it's stay with me broken. Just before my 2nd year of college, I did
the 'intelligent' thing and sold it, for twice what I paid for it.
That is, I sold it for the princely sum of $450. I have many times
regretted selling my 'Limey Lemon'. Though not quite enough to buy
another one.
As an interesting side-note another resident of Felton campaigned an
Austin America in GT-5, and won the regional points championship
with it.
If anyone needs information on tracking down parts for them contact
me, I know of several sources in the bay area.
   Larry
